Food Drive Project from Carter County

March 3, 2017 - 4:30 pm

For 2017, we wanted to start a project that all our stakeholders could participate in that was low cost, yet could have a big impact on a needed service in our communities. To this, we started the U-Can Canned Food drive program. Stakeholders are asked to drop off canned or boxed food to their local office, we also find local partners such as schools or churches. All foods are collected and then donated to a food pantry or shelter in that community.
We believe when we find ways and programs that make stakeholders feel better about who they are, they become not just better employees but better people. When people feel fulfilled, it shows in their work and creates even better services for our clients, but most importantly, it’s the right thing to do.
We collect our food through the month, this allows us to provide end of month distributions with our local partners. We currently have a program up and running at all nine of our Silver Angels locations. Our Life Coaches are currently overseeing this program and we are so glad that they have taken on this task.
